What is noblebright fantasy? I say opposite of grimdark. It does not deny the darkness or pretend it does not exist. Such tales can contain plenty of it, but like the realization that comes to Sam as he sees the star that in Mordor, these stories demonstrate the black night will not overcome the light, which shines out to defy it and will remains unconquered by it despite being surrounded by it. Those in such stories become better because of it, bloodied but unbowed, if they understand their suffering is not for naught. I loved how one noblebright author, Tiger Hebert, calls it, “epic fantasy that dares to hope.”
